SPOTLIGHT ON ACHIEVEMENT

Social Emotional Learning Resource for Area Preschool and Elementary Students Possible through JCCC Collaboration - The Carlsen Center Arts Education and JCCC Foundation partnered with Mesner Puppet Theater to produce “In The Workshop." This is an eight-episode digital social-emotional learning program that empowers educators to use art, storytelling and puppetry to teach important life skills such as safety, identifying emotions and managing relationships. Throughout the episodes, an assorted cast of puppet characters must learn valuable skills such as emotional intelligence, empathy and resilience in order to work together while mirroring young people in their own social and emotional development.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION

JCCC’s Virtual Networking Fair, An Opportunity for Students and Employers, Oct. 19-20 - Do you know a community member that would like to chat with our students about their career or industry? One of the best ways for students to understand a career or industry is by visiting with people in their fields of interest. JCCC faculty and staff are invited to help students better understand the multitude of career choices out there. Students and professionals can access the schedule of industries and RSVP.

TECH UPDATE

Lockdown Browser - is a tool for ensuring that nothing else on a device tempts a student to cheat or make off with question text while taking a Canvas-based test. Historically Lockdown Browser only functioned on Windows and MacOS devices. But a version for Chromebooks is now available.
