SPOTLIGHT ON ACHIEVEMENT

JCCC Hospitality Management Program Culinary instructors were honored by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, National and Kansas City Bailliage:

  • Chef Ed Adel, CEC, AAC, was elevated to Chef Rotisseur.
  • Chef Jerry Marcellus, CCE, HAAC, was elevated to Maitre Rotisseur.
  • Chef Chrystal Tatum, CEC, was inducted as Chef Rotisseur.
  • Chef Adel and Chef Marcellus were awarded the L’Academie Brillat-Savarin Award Academicien.

PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT

The Grants Leadership & Development Office is sponsoring a virtual presentation during PDD, Aug. 16, 1 p.m.

Dr. Nicola Sochacka, from the School of Engineering at the University of Georgia, will present “Empowering Students to Have Greater Agency in Online Class Environments.” In April 2020, Dr. Sochacka received a National Science Foundation RAPID grant for her research on how students, faculty, and staff experienced the transition to online learning in the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Sochacka’s session will have value for higher education instructors and administrators who found themselves quickly having to adapt to an online environment.
