African American Literature in Transition book

SPOTLIGHT ON ACHIEVEMENT

Dr. James Leiker, history, published an essay titled “Race and Manhood in African American Representations of the Frontier” in a series by Cambridge University Press. His piece appears in the “African American Literature in Transition, 1900-1910” volume, edited by Shirley Moody-Turner, and deals with black cowboy Nat Love and black homesteader and filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, both of whom have connections to Kansas and the West.
