OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A Little Pantry in Overland Park is helping feed families and bring one community closer together.

Jennifer Parker and her husband built the pantry in September, after being bothered by the economic devastation the COVID-19 pandemic was having on their community.

“This is our way of helping our neighbors,” Parker said.

The pantry is located near West 71st Street and Metcalf Avenue, in front of Parker’s home. With the help of her neighbors and the community, Parker has continuously stocked its shelves. Every morning and night she refills the pantry.

Because donations keep pilling up, she’s created a pantry – for the pantry – inside her home.

“It really says a lot about the people who live here," Parker said. "These people know what it’s like to struggle and they don’t want to see other people struggle."

Not only do families and individuals take what they need, they also stock the pantry with whatever they can.

Those who would like to donate to the Little Pantry, can stock the shelves or leave donations on her doorstep. She also created a Venmo account for those who wish to make monetary donations.
