Dr. Anne Dotter, Assistant Professor Director Honors

SPOTLIGHT ON ACHIEVEMENT

Dr. Anne Dotter celebrates first year as director of JCCC Honors Program - Help JCCC’s Honors Program support more students across a larger number of disciplines and areas of study, including tech and professional areas.

  • Many honors students start at JCCC undecided and the Honors office seeks to ensure that each of their students finds a champion and mentor among the faculty to help them identify the right path (and degree) for them. You might see an uptick of honors students seeking your help; please consider the opportunity to nurture a high achieving student.
  • As the Honors Program has developed a stronger list of honors courses, less emphasis was placed on Honors Contracts; however, next spring, the office will carefully examine the role of the honors contract at JCCC and its place within our curriculum. You can expect a survey about this early in the spring semester.
  • If you have input on the benefits of honors contracts in your specific discipline, please share them with the Honors office.
  • Please send the names of students who you think will benefit from joining the Honors Program. The Honors office will welcome the opportunity to invite them to join on your behalf.

For more information contact Anne Dotter, Director/Assistant Professor, Honors.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION

Dia De Los Muertos – Virtual Altar

Every year the student LUNA club (Latinos United Now and Always) sets up an altar to honor the memories of loved ones that have passed. Although COVID has forced them to move to a virtual platform, they invite you to collaborate with them this year. The virtual altar will be up for the remainder of the month. This activity is sponsored by the Multicultural Programming Advisory Council.

If you have questions or would like to purchase some pan de muerto, please contact Melisa Jimenez, Recruitment Coordinator and LUNA advisor.

EDTECH TIP

Request a Course Consultation with the Ed Tech Center

Do you have a new course to develop or would you like to revise an existing one? If you’re not sure, submit a request and we will discuss the best approach for your course. After submitting the request you will be contacted by Ed Lovitt, Director Educational Technology/Distance Learning.
