SPOTLIGHT ON ACHIEVEMENT

Book Release in December for JCCC Professor and Author, Shudong Chen

Humanities Professor Shudong Chen’s forthcoming book Four Quartets in the Light of the Chinese Jar, will be available from Lexington Books in December. The book discusses how T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets “should be explored afresh with a prosodic-philosophically sustained interdisciplinary and cross-cultural literary approach.” Professor Chen’s previous book, Comparative Literature in the Light of Chinese Prosody, was published in 2018.

PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT

JCCC is a host institution for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE ) 2020 conference Oct. 20-22. The conference focuses on conversations about sustainability in higher education, including social, economic, environmental equity, political engagement, etc. Presenters will include Sara Goldrick-Rab, a leading voice on student basic needs, and Ibram Kendi, an educator on issues of equity and belonging.

 

JCCC faculty and students can attend for free. Refer to registration information.
